Fitness and Diet part 2

To get to the basic of food and their calories I will have to get a little technical. All food is basically a combinations of carbohydrates (carbs), protein, fat and alcohol. A gram of each is this 4 components has it own calorie count. Carbs and protein 4cal/gr, fat a big 9cal/gr and alcohol goes between at 7cal/gr. (Alcohol is the special one out of the way your body breaks it down, later more on that.)

So what the F* is a calorie? Well, the thing you need to remember is that it’s a measurement of energy and to lose weight/body mass you have to burn more then you take in.

There are a lot of different theories of what the division of the 3 major component should be… In the bodybuilder world you hear a lot 40% carbs 40%protein and 20% fats, then newer studies clame you have to eat more healthy fats and the it should look more like 30% carbs 30% fat and 40% proteins. I’ve tried every combination posible ant thing everybody should do the same and just see how your body reacts. One thing is fore sure, If you want to build muscle keep the protein intake high that’s something where everybody is pretty much on the same page.

So now you know what all food is made of, which food has more of what in it? Carbs would be everything breadlike, pasta, dense carbed vegetables (why carbed? later more on that),… Offcourse every type of food breaks down in different quantities of all or most 4 components. What I call carbs are the kinds of food with the biggest part of the components being carbs. So for protein this would be all kinds of meat and fish, eggs, some dairy products,… And I can imagine you know which kind of food is fatty,

By now you are able to understand the label on the back of our food and start being amazed by which food has which components. Or come to the conclusion that light advertised products have most of the time less fat but extra sugar which as you know is less calorie dense and therefore will has lesser calories, but maybe the although the higher calorie of fat, these ones could have been a healthier choice.

Off course it always get’s more complicated and u have simple carbs and complex ones, healthy and not that healthy fats,… But I don’t think you want to be a nutritionist, you just want to know need to know to start having your goal physique.

All good and well but what should I eat then? You can find on the internet enough healthy diets written with great detail, definitely check it out, I can assure you that they will be full of healthy foods. Here is something you should give a try: If you see water in those lists of crazy to follow diet menu’s , try and start changing every soda(any drink high in sugars, yes sport drinks and juices (even freshly pressed) count) you drink with a water. If that works you probably won’t find any candy in the online healthy diet, so why not try to cut on candy? Or don’t even be so drastic, just begin with changing it half of the time. Changing your way of eating/living should not be difficult, just keep making little changing with a goal in mind. The best motivation is the change you will feel and see.
